
Michael Hull
About Michael
Michael is an in-demand multi-instrumentalist and educator from Baton Rouge, LA. He plays trumpet and synth and sings with the New Orleans-based corporate band The Mixed Nuts. With the Nuts, he has shared the bill with musical acts like Katy Perry, Sting, Flo Rida, and Train.
Michael is an active freelancer, performing with regional orchestras, theaters, and big bands and is often a featured soloist in the Greater Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas.
A teacher for over 10 years, many of Michael’s private students have been selected for the LMEA (Louisiana) and NMEA (Nebraska) All-State Bands and Jazz Ensembles. Members of his trumpet studio have gone on to earn graduate and undergraduate degrees in music performance and education. He previously served as the head band director at the Dunham School and as a Talented Music Teacher for EBR Parish Schools.
Michael was a faculty member of the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, playing in the festival ensembles, the faculty brass quintet and coaching trumpet students in the summer program. He also participated in the Chosen Vale Trumpet Seminar where he worked with famed trumpeters Håkan Hardenberger, Thomas Stevens, Edward Carrol, Craig Morris, Clément Saunier, Stephen Burns, and Marco Blaauw.
Michael holds degrees from Louisiana State University ('17 M.M. Trumpet Performance) as a student of Dr. Brian Shaw and Dr. Matthew Vangjel and Hastings College ('15 B.M. Trumpet Performance & ‘15 B.M.E.) as a student of Dr. Daniel Laing.
